Is the replacement of the front exhaust and removal of a DPF and deactivation of the dpf cycle legal?

I know that this service is offered by several advertisers on the web, but wonder if anybody has experience of this modification, and has put their modified diesel car successfully through an MOT. Surely, the emissions would not meet the EU legal limit for particulates.
